The term flare-up is used when the androgens that circulate in the blood increase as a result of prostate cancer treatment. During the first month of treatment, it is recommended that the patient is given antiandrogen treatment to prevent flare-ups which may cause dysuria (pain or discomfort when urinating), bone marrow compression and pain in the bones.
